About Susan
Susan Douglas, Ph.D. is an executive and team coach who excels at applying systems-centered and strengths-based approaches to build possibility and simplify complexity. She supports individuals and teams to create small shifts that lead to big transformations. She is passionate about the power of teams to cultivate organizational resilience, spark innovation, and drive sustainable growth. Dr. Douglas met Peter Hawkins and Catherine Carr in 2020 when she participated in the first systemic team coaching program at WBECS. Now a faculty member for Systemic Team Coaching®, Susan contributes to several prestigious programs, including Team Development Essentials, Practitioner, Senior Practitioner, and Team Coach Supervision Training.
As an EMCC-certified supervisor, Susan supports team coaches by providing a rejuvenating space for individual, co-coach, and group coaching supervision. She fosters an environment where challenges are addressed, learning unfolds collaboratively, and professional standards and ethics are integrated for reflection and growth. She partners with coaches to co-design a developmental journey of enhanced self-awareness, practical skills, and strengthened connections.
Dr. Douglas is a multifaceted professional with a background in clinical psychology and over 20 years at the intersection of leadership, organizational learning, and high-impact communication. As a psychologist, she specialized in trauma-informed care, which informs her current focus on resilience for leaders, teams, and organizations. Currently, she is a university professor, teaching courses in leadership, effective teams, and evaluating organizational performance. Dr. Douglas has written over 40 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters. She began her career at Harvard Medical School with post-doctoral fellowships at Harvard University and Harvard Medical School.
Certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and possessing Advanced Certification in Team Coaching (ACTC), Susan also holds certifications from the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches (NBC-HWC) and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) at the senior practitioner level. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Susan's work extends globally, reflecting her love for travel and diverse cultural experiences, alongside cherishing time with her family. When not working, you can often find her outdoors, walking her dogs and enjoying nature.
